Sign Language Interpreter Wanted at Tolkcentralen Gotland
In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all walks of life. We make each other better.
Tolkcentralen
Do you want to be part of people's everyday lives, every day? Welcome to an exciting and developing job with us at Tolkcentralen Gotland.
Tolkcentralen is part of the communication unit together with Got-IT resource center, audiology, speech therapy, and vision center, and has a good and close collaboration with other operations. At Tolkcentralen, two sign language interpreters and two text interpreters work, as well as a couple of hourly employed text interpreters.
We offer interpreting services to people in Gotland who are deaf, deafblind, hard of hearing, and late-deafened. We provide interpretation in various everyday situations, such as during medical visits, workplace meetings, government contacts, family matters, and leisure activities.
If interested, the permanent position may potentially be combined with a 50% employment in video interpreting at NerikeTolkarna AB in Gotland. Contact person: Maria Frendberg, tel: 0735-14 54 12.
If needed, the health and medical care administration's Housing Service may assist with housing initially.
Your Responsibilities
You will independently perform interpreting assignments through preparation, interpretation, and follow-up work. You will also participate in the development of the operation by actively engaging in various improvement efforts. The work is scheduled during the day but also in the evening and on weekends with a flexible schedule.
Since we are a small interpreting center, coordination with our coordinator and other colleagues is also included.
Who Are You?
You should have completed a sign language interpreter training approved by TÖI or MYH, and we prefer that you are authorized by the Kammarkollegiet. A B driver's license is required for the position.
Previous experience working as an interpreter is an advantage, and if you have triple competence (sign language, deafblind, text interpreting), it is beneficial.
You should have very good collaboration skills while also being able to work independently. Your communication ability is based on a reasoned approach, both before and after assignments.
You should have a high linguistic level and the ability to adapt to different levels, as well as being able to adjust to new conditions since the schedule often needs to be changed at short notice. We place great importance on personal suitability.
Before a hiring decision, a background check will be conducted through an extract from the criminal record.
